Heading North

We took a day trip up north two weekends ago. I wanted to post pics of our trip the following Monday, but that didn't happen amidst all the corn and tomatoes I was drowning in!

We live in the midst of mountains here in our parts. Not the big, snow-capped moutains you'll find out west, but the sprawling, pine-covered kind. Beautiful.

About an hour north is a big beauitful state park that we try to visit at least once per year. In fact, Brad and I spent our anniversary hiking there last summer. Actually, we've spent more than one anniversary there!

Our trip this summer consisted of hiking through the big beautiful hemlock-filled forests and the rhododendron trails (which we were so lucky to hike on when they were in bloom last year!)

We visited a deer ranch where the kids got to see and pet different kinds of white-tailed deer.

We climbed the swaying watchtower to the top. Our oldest was a bit unsure of the whole thing, but he made it up!

He looks a bit whoozy here...

We found a LOVELY, isolated picnic spot right beside the creek for lunch. The kids played in the creek, looking for crayfish while Brad and I prepared lunch.

We finished the day up with some mini-golf, the petting zoo, and dinner en route to home. It was an AWESOME, oh-so-relaxing kind of day. Looking forward to doing it again next year!

Looks like a lovely time.

I think I would have been pretty whoozy up there in the watchtower, too. That looks pretty high!

What a wonderful day! The woods look gorgeous and refreshing. All the kids look happy and excited. It makes me want to get out of the house and do the same thing!
