so much like her mama

This little girl of mine is so much like me. I see it more and more every day. She may be a bit wild and crazy and rambunctious like her dad, but when it comes to her desire to make things with her hands, well that apple didn't fall far from the maternal tree.

Her most recent project was a handmade dollhouse which she made from an old box, wallpaper samples, fabric, and other odds and ends. I found this completely endearing as I had done the same exact thing when I was around her age. Having desperately wanted a real dollhouse and having never received one (I forgive you dad and mom), I took it upon myself to build one out of an old box. Her house is much, much nicer than mine as I only had napkins, tissues, and pieces of cardboard to build and decorate my house! How the industry has improved on craft supplies over the years!

Anyway, this here mama still dreams about that big old wooden dollhouse. (In fact, I even occasionally look at kits online.) And some day, I have a feeling that maybe she and I will tackle one of those kits together, and then enjoy decorating our little house with all means of cute miniatures.

Hello!
What an amazing project your little one is working on!
Good for her!
I remember doing something similar when I was young, but not nearly as well!
Have a cozy day. : )

Amber, so glad you're blogging again! I made my way back at it as well.

I love her doll house! I've been hinting at my husband to make our daughter one. Maybe let me know if you find any kits and accesories!

I absolutely love this. I remember doing projects like this and becoming lost for an entire afternoon, just playing.

What a fun project! She's doing such a good job too. I have good memories of doing the same thing when I was young.

Oh what joy to have a daughter who can immerse herself in her creativity and end up with such a sweet dollhouse . What a treasure, a daughter to share crafting, sewing, spinning (?), and all these fun things. Plus, she obviously has a lot of imagination. you're blessed, and so is she.

Hi Amber! Thanks for stopping by my blog to say hello. Your daughter's dollhouse is awesome! One of my favorite childhood memories is spending hours with my sister on our big front porch, cutting and pasting and creating. We used to cut out pictures from the Sears catalog to "decorate" out house.
Have a great weekend, hope you're not affected too much by the big snowstorm headed for the east (been watching on the news).

she is so talented and I love her sense of detail in her dollhouse. That is something I would have done as a child if given the resources to create it!!

Amber brings back a lot of memories my sister and I would sit for hours with paper rolls cresting or boxes and magazines and masking houses for Barbies....scrap fabric for curtains, and tablecloths....I triply wish my granddaughter had an imagination, my step daughter has slowed video games, etc to overcome their lives.....now I have a new granddaughter from my daughter we may have hope there.....

Thank you for the memories I just reading and seeing your daily lives and how loving and simplified it is...

Blessings
