Making A Home's Weekend Book Review - What Are You Waiting For? The One Thing No One Ever Tells You About Sex

And again, Dannah Gresh did not disappoint me. A couple of years ago, I sat in as a "mentor" for a teenage girl class at our church in which they read and discussed Dannah's book And the Bride Wore White: Seven Secrets to Sexual Purity. So when I saw that Waterbrook publishers had her newest book, What Are You Waiting For?: The One Thing No One Ever Tells You About Sex available for review, I was very excited!

This book is raw, straight talk. There's no sugar-coating here! The intended audience for this book is the teenage girl. Dannah delves into all the sexual topics that teenage girls are faced with these days, including pornography, masturbation, sexual guilt, romance, and more. She explains why it is important to save your whole self for your future spouse. She shows why sexual pureness until marriage is so important to God.

Dannah also discusses the importance of remaining mentally pure as well as physically pure. I loved that she discussed mental pureness, something that a lot of books don't really touch on. She explains the danger of becoming romantically involved with boys before the time when one is actually able to really commit and look for a marriage partner. Many see having a boyfriend as an okay and normal thing to do in the teen years, but Dannah discusses the danger in emotionally connecting with one from the opposite sex.

I really loved this book. This one, along with Dannah's other book, is going to stay right there on my shelf to share with my daughter when she reaches the appropriate age. One thing I really love about Dannah is that she speaks from experience. She engaged in premarital sex and she dealt with the destructiveness that that brought. So she now makes it one of her life missions to work with teen girls to help them from making the same mistakes that she did.

I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who has preteen/teen girls! Get this book and have your daughter read it and read it yourself as well. This book also includes study questions in the very back for each chapter. What a great little study for you and your daughter to complete together.

I LOVED this book!

* I received this book from Waterbrook Press in exchange for my honest review.*

Sounds like a great book! I will have to find this one for my daughter. Another great book is I kissed dating goodbye by Joshua Harris and Boy Meets Girl by Joshua Harris. Thanks for letting us know about this one! Have a blessed weekend!
