Pressing towards the goal...

Remember my post about my whiteboard from a while back? Well, here was my whiteboard then...

And here is my whiteboard since Tuesday when we found out we were leaving in 2 1/2 weeks...

And that doesn't even include the obvious like packing.

Oh goodness, do I feel so busy! Not only am I preparing for our trip, but I'm also preparing for our Vacation Bible School at church (I'm a co-director) which starts two days after we leave, and our adoption benefit spaghetti dinner on the 7th. My mind is spinning, really, so if you could take a quick minute and say a little prayer for me, I would so appreciate it.

And I'm nervous, you all! I've never flown before, and our trip is three different flights each way. Plus, I'm leaving my kids for 5 1/2 weeks. Oh, goodness, I can hardly think of it without getting sad. But I do know that this is temporary, and a very short fragment of our lives, and it's necessary to do to get our Sergei home with us. Just please be praying for peace for us!

Thanks for taking the time to read my humble little blog. I always so much appreciate each and every comment that is left for me. It's very encouraging!
Have a blessed day!

Hi Amber,
Wow what a journey you are getting ready to embark upon. I can understand your fears and concerns. So proud of you for being brave and doing what God has called you to do. I would love to bless you with that necklace. Send me your address and I'll get it mailed out ASAP.

Best Wishes,

Take a deep breath and don't be afraid to ask for help. I have a cousin that adopted from the Ukraine. They left their two girls (ages 4 and 6) and they still think it was very special that they were able to stay with Grandma for so long. Of course they missed Mom and Dad, but they made some special memories of their own. I'll be praying for you!

That's a nice thought that Wendi gave, about the kids going to Grandma's. Yes you know am already praying. I do remember how hectic everything was for us. 5 1/2 weeks is really hard. We had to stay for 3 (but also had to make 2 visits). Most of that time was in Moscow, which was hard. Moscow is a dark place. As you may already know, Ukraine is actually the birthplace of Christianity (Orthodox, but still) for the Russian people group. I have heard revival has sprouted up there again; Praise the Lord.

Will you be able to bring your computer? That would be nice if you can. We didn't have a laptop at the time we went; we sure wished we had.
Many Blessings to all of you.
Pam

Oh my you have much to do. It will all be worth it. When you grow tired remember Psalm 68:35 & your prayer request was added to the little red prayer box. May the Lord watch over you & your family & bring you all together safely once again. In the name of Jesus Amen

Amber, how wonderful for you and your family.
There was a time in our life when my boys were very young that, I had to leave them for a whole month after the passing of my father, it was difficult.
During the day they were tended by a close friend. Daddy was there for evenings (after work0, but they really missed their mama.
I did a couple of things that may help you. I complied a few small inexpensive items...crayons, coloring books, matchbox cars etc. along with note(picture)cards. I'd wrap them in small bags (before I left). Hubby tucked one for each child into various places where they were sure to find them....their PJ drawer or on their pillows before they were tucked in for the night. He'd read my notes while they unwrapped their lil' gifts.
It was an expected sweet surprise from their mom during the weeks I was gone. It helped ease the time.
They also journaled/drew pictures (with dads help) of their activities they could share with me upon my return.

I look forward to the postings of your travels.

Sweet wishes,
Sara
