Hum, went the sewing machine...

Ms. Singer and I have been busy lately. Here's what we've been up to...

This pillow. I got this idea to add a crocheted doily from Fine Linen (private blog so I can't link to it). I had this soft burlap-like fabric in my stash and it was just enough to make this pillow.

I stitched on the doily after I had the pillow completed.

Lastly, I added this vintage button...

I think I'd like to make more of these pillows to give as gifts. I'll have to keep my eye out for more crocheted doilies at the thrift stores.

With the scraps, I made these multipurpose C-mas tree ornaments/gift card holders. I can use these to give gift cards in and the receivers can then hang them on their tree. A perfect way to use up fabric scraps!

I also made this longer pillow out of red ticking fabric and some coarse burlap I had. I think I'll stencil a word onto the face of the burlap. I just haven't decided which word I want to use yet.

Ric rac trim...

I frayed the edges of the burlap for a more rustic look...

I've come to the conclusion that I'd sew a lot more often if my sewing machine was sitting out somewhere all the time. It's been gracing my kitchen table for the last couple of days, and I've been so inspired to use it when it's staring me in the face.

I know what you mean about using your sewing machine more if it were out. It is a pain to drag it out of the closet and then have to put it away so we can have dinner.

Everythings looks wonderful. I especially like the gift card holders.

Everything is so cute!!

I've kept mine out for sometime now. It sits on the homeschooling table at the end, out of the way somewhat. I have three dresses to sew by Thanksgiving, and will start on those tomorrow.

I love your pillows! I am like you, I would sew more often if I didn't have my machine in my closet.

Were the gift card ornaments your own idea? They're adorable! Maybe you could even stuff them with some seasonal potpourri ...

Love your pillow and your gift card holders. I am especially fond of the burlap/ticking combo right now. There is something so homey about it. I love the texture as well.

These are beautiful...I did the same with the old doily...My daughter got married 2 years ago and had a vintage/country pink and white wedding outside in a vineyard. We made two little pink pillows for each ringbearer. One was covered with a vintage doily and the other with a vintage hankie! They were beautiful!
You have a beautiful blog!

Amber~ I'm strolling in to catch up and especially to wish you and your loved ones a Happy Thanksgiving!
It's such a wonderful time to stop and reflect on all those we cherish and are truly grateful for.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to visit and leave feeling inspired!

Even though our Thanksgiving is very small in number, with hubby and son (we don't count the cat cause she doesn't like turkey). We don't scrimp on the menu...from appetizers to desserts with several carb loaded dishes in between! We will be enjoying tryptophan playoffs too!

Sweet Holiday wishes,
Sara

I really like the pillows. I have never been one to sew, but I have been thinking that small pillows might be a start! Thanks for sharing your talent and ideas!
